When to use:
Health and safety legislation requires all employers to operate a safe system of work. One way of discharging this duty is to implement rules and regulations, training and other systems which aim to prevent accidents. Even if you have no employees, the regulations apply to cover other visitors to your premises.
There are two good reasons to buy these documents.
First, Net Lawman has drawn a set of Fire Safety document templates to create for you a low cost route to compliance. As with all such documents, simply completing a form does not automatically mean you have complied. The purpose of the regulations is to make us all consider fire risks, reduce them where possible and inform everyone as appropriate. However, if you have a legal claim, or an employment claim, or simply a visit from your insurer, it will be difficult for anyone to say you have failed to comply, if these documents are in place.
Second, if you have the documents in place, it is very easy to diarise ahead a few months and update them. You can turn another piece of mind boggling red tape into a 30 minute task. (Note however, that in law, the duty is ongoing and requires constant monitoring!)
ZA-HSE045 Fire drill practise record
This document enables an employer to record the fire practise drills which should be carried out as part of the ongoing responsibility to ensure fire safety and awareness. Though your business may already practice fire drills, recording the drill and any related information ensures compliance with fire safety law. No other Net Lawman document allows an assessment of all the steps at one time. Despite this, please note that this document should be used as a supplement to the other fire documents in the set, and not as a single, stand alone document to cover all areas of compliance.
ZA-HSE045 includes provisions for the following:
- recording of the date and time of the practise drills
- identifies the person responsible for carrying out the drill and outlines their duties
- allows for the drill to be recorded accurately and with consistently by ensuring that the time and finish of the drill is noted
- allows the person in charge to record any risks identified because of the drill
- allows the person in charge to identify any people specifically at risk due for example, disabled
- people working too far from a fire exit point.
- ensures monthly reviews are signed off once completed
