When to use:
Health and safety legislation requires all employers to operate a safe system of work. One way of discharging this duty is to implement rules and regulations, training and other systems which aim to prevent accidents. Even if you have no employees, the regulations apply to cover other visitors to your premises.
There are two good reasons to buy these documents.
First, Net Lawman has drawn a set of Fire Safety document templates to create for you a low cost route to compliance. As with all such documents, simply completing a form does not automatically mean you have complied. If you have a legal claim, or an employment claim, or simply a visit from your insurer, it will be difficult for anyone to say you have failed to comply, if these documents are in place.
Second, if you have the documents in place, it is very easy to diarise ahead a few months and update them. You can turn another piece of mind boggling red tape into a 30 minute task. (Note however, that in law, the duty is ongoing and requires constant monitoring!)
ZA-HSE046 Fire alarm check record
This document sets out a structure by which a business can carry out effective checks on their fire alarm system. Even if you already carry out regular fire alarm checks, it is important to record when and where they were carried out, including the results of the check. By recording the regular checks, you will ensure compliance with the fire safety law.
ZA-HSE046 includes provisions for the following:
- nomination of a person competent to carry out the checks
- location of the fire alarm being checked
- dates on which the fire check is carried out
- issues identified during the check such as broken component parts / missing electrical parts
- whether any action is taken in light of the issues identified and if so, a description of the action
- reference to a Risk Assessment form if further action is required
- procedures for monthly review
